Why the provider drop down at the top of each LBF

Why does the Provider exist at the top of each LBF? What actions does it drive?

In Order to mention which provider creating this notes.

Interesting. I wonder why this isn’t simply populated from the provider that is attached to the encounter.

Because a different clinician from encounter provider may be filling the form.

Thanks for the information.

Food for thought - the author of a form may not be a provider; an RN, LPN, MA, or even students may be filling out a form that does not require provider oversight. We should probably make displaying the provider a form-level setting.

Agreed. Or just getting rid of it all together. In our practice, all orders associated with an encounter are related to the provider of the encounter. Just because an MA completes a form, the authority to complete the order is derived from the doctor/provider anyway.

Forms are not orders and do not inherently require a signing authority. While we could default the select box to a provider, it needs to remain as an option to support multi-provider encounters.

That sounds fine with me.
