I’m researching virtual ward software development and would like to learn from the OpenEMR community.
From what I’ve read, virtual ward software development is a digital platform that enables healthcare organisations to monitor, manage, and support patients remotely while maintaining clinical oversight outside traditional hospital settings.
I’m curious about how this works in practice with OpenEMR.
Has anyone integrated OpenEMR with a virtual ward platform?
Which standards or APIs are typically used (FHIR, HL7, REST)?
What challenges did you face during implementation?
Are there any recommended open-source or commercial solutions?
I’d appreciate hearing about real-world experiences and best practices.
Welcome to the OpenEMR community; hope you can get the info you’re looking for.
Gotta say, I notice you haven’t gotten many responses, which is unfortunate but understandable: one of the tenets of FOSS (the dev model used by OpenEMR) is that you educate yourself as much as possible so that you can ask meaningful questions. How that would work in this case is that you can use the forum search tool to read through past posts and see what others have asked before you on your topic of enquiry.
The search tool is in the upper right corner of the forum screen and works like this:
