I just get confused how to start, so please allow me to ask by making a new topic in this forum.
I am really new in using OpenEMR, and I’m really interested in understanding its architecture and developing it. For the first time, I want to make a new translation language in Open EMR, Indonesian language. What should I do to make it? I’m really sorry, but please guide me step by step, until making a new language option in login screen (Indonesian). I really appreciate any kind of clue or guide that are given. Thank you very much.
To add a new language, just need to email me at brady@sparmy.com with request for the new language and for modification access to the google docs translation spreadsheet. Regarding Indonesian, there is already a Bahasa Indonesia column on the spreadsheet (column ‘Q’), which is translated at 47%, however I have been told that those translations are very poor and need to be fixed. I am assuming you are wanting to translate Bahasa Indonesia (if not, just let me know the name of what language you plan to translate to, and I’ll gladly add it to the spreadsheet).
I have already sent you a message about a request for modification access to google docs translation spreadsheet. I’m waiting for your reply.
But, there is still something I want to ask. Is it really okay if I change some of the translation that has been made or maybe all of them in the spreadsheet? Are there any criteria if I want to make any changes in the translation (Bahasa Indonesia)? Or is it really okay too for the previous translator that has been made that translation so far? I’m sorry, but I just don’t want to make any mistakes when I’m doing the translation. Thank you very much.

I just gave you modification access along with further details via email. In the case of Bahasa Indonesia, about a 1-2 years ago, it appears that many of the translations were added in one day via a automated translation engine and they have not really been edited since. I have also been told by several people that the translations are of poort quality (which is why this language has never been released in the official OpenEMR releases). So, please feel free to modify previous translations as needed. For other languages, this is a bit more complicated; may be best to instead email the other translators (note all translators have access to a translator spreadsheet that shows the email addresses of all translators for each language and/or communicate via the wiki page dedicated for each language (this can be found on the OpenEMR_Internationalization_Translator_Guide wiki page linked in above post.
