Speech to dictation in openemr using microsoft edge voice add on

Hello,

Is it possible to use microsoft edge voice speech to dictation add on in openemr?

Thanks

Hi @deldev
It couldn’t hurt to just try it!
Other dictation applications that work in OpenEMR simply insert the dictated text at the cursor. So you just turn on the dictation app, click in the OpenEMR text area and talk.

Good luck- HT

Yes, you are right, but what about HIPAA compliance? Would it be affected if we use the Edge Dictation package?

I have not heard that the Edge package retains any dictated data outside the local computer.
But if it did send content to some external system, you are right- that would be a huge violation.

If the microsoft edge voice speech needs internet to work then the data is sent to outside server for processing and training.

This might be a better option if you sign a BAA with Amazon

I noticed the module may not be available. and I also found another Medical Transcribe from Amazon

The speech-to-text feature of JavaScript is not sent outside of the browser that it is implemented on. I know this because I built this Psychology AI Note Generator. The listener is completely within the browser. The data does not leave the server until you click the button to generate the note. So, if you added the same feature to the SOAP note for example. It would be voice-to-text without any outside program such as dragon or such like.

I dropped the AWS HealthScribe because no one was interested.
