Slack Chat

Following this forum can be a bit of a nightmare (trying to find where someone has replied?) So I have created a slack (it’s the new IRC) channel for OpenEMR. It may help when a few of us are working together on a certain project/upgrade.

User can add themselves at the following address:
https://openemr.herokuapp.com/

Once a user is registered they can sign in here:
https://openemr.slack.com/

Obviously once Brady and a few of the other board members sign up I can transfer ownership/admin across to them.

Hi Scott,

This is neat. Much easier than irc and looks to be completely free when just using it as a chat channel.

We should place this on the wiki here:
http://www.open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/OpenEMR_Wiki_Home_Page#Overview_of_OpenEMR
(What would be best way to place it there? Looks like need an invite link for new users and then a login link for current users.)

Feel free to keep ownership/admin of this for now (only need to transfer it in the future if you stop participating in the project or if it becomes a pain for you).

Also placed a quick page for this new project tool here(this is to ensure we don’t forget about these things  ):

This is a test, to check RSS feeds into slack.

Alright I signed up. Haven’t explored much. What are the special reasons to use this as opposed to the forum or email?

Shiny interface. Something everyone wants!

Hi Rod,

Don’t look at it as a replacement to the forum or email, rather an enhanced collaboration/communication tool.

Slack is the new email, instant messenger, chat room, intranet and social network all rolled into one. With Slack, there’s no need to toggle your way through half a dozen other open programs – you have everything you need right there. Slack strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and sophistication, enterprise and consumer, synchronous and asynchronous communication

Oh and a shiny interface.

Edit: Slack is for quick chats, then if needed maybe move over to the forum for a larger discussion?
