Psychiatric Practice Management?

chapman_m wrote on Saturday, November 19, 2005:

Hi,

Is OpenEMR suited for use with psychiatric clinics out of the box, or would I need to create my own encounter forms?

Any input is appreciated,

Thanks,

Mike C.

More specifically, are the following forms available:

• Assessment & Plan - Psychiatry
• Physical Exam - Psychiatry
• Patient Intake Form - Psychiatry
• Review of Systems - Psychiatry
• Work Status Report - Psychiatry
• Depression/Anxiety Questionnaire
• Mental Health Intake
• Psychiatric Evaluation
• Geriatric Form

If not, how could I create these forms? Are any general use templates available for modification?

Thanks,

Mike C.

I have checked in an Intake form. I have a couple of more mental health forms I will be checking in Monday or Tuesday. I will check them in but I will in the next week or 2 be making them so the counselor cannot submit an incomplete form. I will post when they are up.

Rod,

Thanks for your offer of help…I am in the process of downloading Mandrake iso’s and OpenEMR. I’ll probably take you up on the offer.

…and Jim, appreciate the heads-up concerning your forms. I’ll keep checking to see when they are up.

Thanks everyone!

Jim, Mike:

I see an "Assessment and Intake" form, but no others. (BTW, I will have my wife take a look at your form, thanks!!!) Should I be recognizing other check-ins in 2.8.1, or:

a) other things have come up, you’re gonna get to this when you get a chance; or

b) this mini-project has gone stale, no further work planned for the time being; or

c) Mike still has definite form contents in mind, but Jim hasn’t the time to create them; or

d) Mike has chosen to implement something other than OpenEMR?

Note: my wife is board certified and recently quit from a large Govt. institution (*not* a VA, she’s not yet addicted to VistA). I do computers in a very “lightweight” way… but as Rob knows, I know what a schema is and how to fix it when something’s broke. (As in: the initial problem with the 2.8.1 DB). I’m also capable of doing these forms (although my time is limited), since there are many existing samples to work from.

Please respond (this thread) where we are (a/b/c/d listed above). Thanks!!!

My bad. Got caught up all sorts of things. I just emailed to Rod for inclusion a MH Individual Treatment Plan form and a MH Therapy Progress form. Email me if you need changes. I still have some work I want to do on them but they should be something you can try out.

Thanks Jim, I have now checked in both forms (contrib/forms/).  I have not tested them myself.

Thanks Jim,

No \bad\ at all. I’m very grateful! As Rod and I have discussed elsewhere, my wife tends to prefer writing a lot of text (versus clicking a bunch of checkboxes), even though that makes DB queries awfully difficult.

I’ll just sneak into CVS, take a look at what you’ve come up withe :-))

I think that for MH you might want to take a look at http://www.sqlclinic.net/.
