Prescription Re-issue

Hi,

I have a anesthesiologist that needs to prescribe the same drugs over and over. He would like to be able to open the prescription list and click a button to re-issue the same list of checked drugs.

Is this possible in the current system?

It is possible when CAMOS is activated. There might be other options too.

I installed the CAMOS and it will not capture prescriptions that are already in the system.

Since they are already an operational office can CAMOS grab current drug history and re-prescribe?

Although the terminology can be confusing, the dispensary module allows you to create a template which could be used for this purpose. Just “select from inventory” when creating a new prescription and the rest of the data will fill in per the template.

I believe creating a repeat prescription based on patient’s Rx history would require some customization.

I am not a USER of CAMOS, but what I remember of CAMOS is that it is a separate module.

You have to make the prescription in CAMOS with all medication needed, than you can click, click click an print the prescription with as many medication-lines you want.

May be other USERS have a different opinion that serves better your purpose.

In weekly Demo here:

you might find a rough example of a combination Rx in CAMOS.

Prescription => AnestesiaRx => All above => Prescriptionwith all threemedications.

In addition to the Dispensary module and CAMOS, another easy option is e-Prescribe.

Would you be so kind to show me the steps to activate and use e-Prescribe module? I tried to find my way in weekly Demo but lost track after two tries.

Tnx in advance. Or show me the WIKI page so I can follow the WIKI advise, if available.

An account has to be set up with Allscripts/NewCrop to use e-Prescribe, therefore it won’t work in the Demo.

Once everything is set up with an actual practice and real patients, the entire process takes about 3 clicks.

I assume the anesthesiologist in question does pain management, otherwise there would be no reason to prescribe anything for a surgical patient.

e-Prescribe is not an option for the practice that I am working with.

He is using the native Prescription module in the system. The pain clinic prescribes a high amount of drugs. Like everyone else there are bottlenecks in the work flow. Because under the current build to update the drug, each one has to be done individually.

I have been working on a modification to add a Re-Issue(Rx) that will let them do this in one click in the native program. I do plan on sharing this modification with the community once it is functional in their production environment.

It is unwise and a medical-legal landmine to mass prescribe, especially narcotics. A physician has a professional and ethical obligation to ensure no drug-to-drug adverse reactions or overdosing.

It may be slow to scrutinize each rx, but it is time well spent.
