Portable OpenEMR Live USB

doccbst wrote on Wednesday, December 14, 2011:

Greetings all,
It’s been a while but I did the OpenEMR Live CD a few years back. I have been working on this new project for a while

I have perfected a portable, self installing live USB version with session data memory and fully usable “as is” (portable)ibute files on portable media or installed to any PC system netbook, laptop, or sever network,
Data security and backup full system or daily backup easily with OpenEMR tools or included Linux and software backup tools

This is a complete Linux OS and OpenEMR V3.2.
There is the problem and my plans are to  go full newest version Ububtu based OS and current 4.1 OpenEMR Debian Ubuntu Package and include my custom chiro soap note click and fill form ( I will contribute these files for improvement and user review).
As Well,I’ll include ICD9 codes either as a batch import code file or already installed.
This system allows for full program utilization, testing and system install of OpenEMR making all of the features user friendly and customizable for each user.
I cannot sell software as is (Open Source) but my plans are to sell as a Device with full system installed.

Any medial with PC Boot support, Micro SD, (up to 32 GB)SD, USB Flash Drives, USB Portable Hard Drives, if your PC can boot from “any” portable media this will System will work on your PC.
I can offer this this an .IMG file to be copied to media (requires advanced software expertise), or the .iso of the CD (DVD) that installs to USB/hard drive (nominal computer experience).
These are large files 1-4 GB so I know thats a consideration, I could offer as a torrent if there are any reputable Host.

My Chiro Soap form is pretty thourough but has some bugs. Instead of printing “blank” on a negative it prints “negative” which is unnecessary. Plus some linguistic problems and abbreviation issues, any and all input welcome.
This form is designed as point and click, fill in, Daily Chart Notes, and New,or Current Patient Chiropractic Examination.
I tried to track the commands but couldn’t find the switch to disable “Negative” printing.
Any comments, suggestions, criticisms, or help in any way is appreciated.
I don’t see how to upload file for chiro_soap so please advise.

None of this would be possible without all the contributions of OpenEMR and the entire Open Source Community.
Thank You,
Dr Cecil E Collins Jr

Hi,

Regarding the potential ISO you are planning, we are starting to list these on the wiki here:

Brady, Thanks for reply, I already have the iso’s for Live OpenEMR (dated 2 yrs old), and the new Version using OpenEMR v3.2 that will work live or install directly to the USB or hard drive w/ OpenEMR installed, the Newest version using OpenEMr v 4.1 isn’t ready yet. I don’t have any way to host these iso’s.
I just need to know where to start and where & how to upload these files.
I haven’t started on git yet.
Thanks
Cecil

Hi,
One possibility to get hosting for this is to create a sourceforge project specific to your project (this is what the other ISO did on that openemr iso wiki web page). Then, you’ll learn how to host files on sourceforge, and if accepted by community in the future, can then migrate it into the main openemr sourceforge project (this is akin to how the OpenEMR Appliance worked out).
