When can we expect PHP5 compatibility.
We would like to try this software but I don’t want to install back PHP4

The obstacles to PHP5 compatibility are mostly minor and easy to fix.  There is discussion of this in the developer’s forum.

php5 compatibility upgrades commited,
although not intensively tested,
will appreciate community feed-back

although I got a little stuck at the documents module,
before studying it in detail I wonder if anybody has a fix for that already,

At the time that I wanted to go live in the office with mysql5 and php5 and work my way through fixing incompatibilities as they came up, I was urged not to take a chance with our precious real data.  I also have some trouble using my real data moved to a test system, because there are some incompatibilities between the modified version I am using and what is in cvs.

Still, I am going to set up a new test area and play around with this problem again to help out.

I’ll try and learn a little more smarty if time permits.  I guess it couldn’t be as simple as plugging in a newer version of smarty?  That’s the problem with integrating other complex software.  We either end up stuck with an aging version or have to keep up with staying compatible with the latest versions.

Dear Mark,

The largest use of Smarty is in the current calender section.  At some point we want to completely rework the calender to further the process of removing the existing Smarty code from the code base as we move along.  We are trying to avoid doing new features using Smarty.
