What’s the procedure to get a specific enhancement into OpenEMR? Is there a bounty mechanism? I’d rather support the project than get someone to create enhancements on our side, when they don’t know the project yet and it will not benefit the community anyway.
There are no financial arrangements between Professional Support and the Project. Forum members donate time helping out here or in the Wiki. Monetary donations are handled through OEMR.
This is a very good point. It is much more beneficial for the OpenEMR project (and yourself) to have a developer do your customizations in a fashion that can be placed into the main codebase(assuming the feature would be useful for the general community). The benefit towards the OpenEMR project is obvious since it gains another feature. The benefit towards yourself is not as obvious, however it becomes clear as you need to upgrade to new versions in the future (since the feature is in the official codebase it will not get stepped on by other features etc.).
At this point, though, I wouldn’t only focus on the above list, since it’s a bit outdated. Best thing to do is to request developer support here or from the openemr website (either professional support listing or certified openemr contributor) and ask two key questions:
What code have they contributed to the official codebase?
When was the last time they contributed code to the official codebase?
I’m also glad to provide you with a list if you have a specific project in mind ( email: brady@sparmy.com )(I am a volunteer with no financial interest towards any parties).
