Hi,

This feature was built to support AMC (Automated Measure Calculations) for Meaningful Use certification. Check out http://www.open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/Description_AMC#AMC_Measures_Tracking_Mechanisms
item 5 in that section, which is:

5. Provide patients with an electronic copy of their health information (including diagnostic test results, problem list, medication lists, medication allergies), upon request. 170.304(f)
**The request can be submitted from the Patient/Client->Records->Patient Record Request page.
**The request can be tracked on the Reports->Clinic->AMC Tracking page.

So, it’s simply a mechanism to track patient record request, which are then reported at “Provide patients with an electronic copy of their health information (including diagnostic test results, problem list, medication lists, medication allergies), upon request. ( AMC:170.304(f) )” in Reports-> Automated MEasures (AMC)

Dear Brady,

For some of us from low-resource countries our need for Patient record is not to meet the Meaningful Use criteria but for continuity of care at different sites.  As mentioned in one of the Forum questions, we often work with multiple facilities and patients can go to any of the facilities within the network and there is limited connectivity for centralized server.  One of the systems that have worked in such situation is to have patient carry their encrypted health records in a Credit-card size Smart Card.  Is it possible to export the Patient Health Records as available from the Patient Portal unto Recorder/Reader System?  Is there anyone out there who has had experience in doing this with OpenEMR?
