I am looking to choose an EMR for new practice. I really like a lot of the features in Open EMR, but I would also like to have drug interactions automatically. I ws wondering if anyone had played with OSCAR to have an interface of the two. Their drugref looks like it was based on the now defunct drugref program. But, they seem to update it regularly. They also operate under a GPL license so I guess it would be kosher.
The OSCAR Drug Ref. I found seems to be an outdated site? Can you provide a working web address where the program can be downloaded or even better, has a demonstration site?
Are you USA based or an International OEMR USER?
There is an other very promising site mentioned elsewhere in the forums about Drug interactions and the WHO data base of medications. If you found a working solution please let us know to compare….
OEMR is very flexible. So you could skip the word “hence-interest” one of the problems might seem OEMR is TOO flexible. But your interest seem to cover a well known issue about medical prescriptions. Hope one of the developers/programmers pick this issue as a spear head to explore and to find a reasonable solution.
I have a programming background and what I was trying to determine with the initial post was if anyone had played with trying to interface the two programs and how it went for them
what I like about Open EMR was its flexibility due to the underlying programs -when looking into proprietary programs -I have had trouble getting them to tell whether I could run my own sql queries on my own data or program add-ons if I did not like something with theirs
the “hence” just refereed to the fact that I Iiked the pre-programmed features which would make US billing easier -I did not mean that the program would not be useful elsewhere
No offense whatsoever!!!!!! I just wanted to get things going. Based in USA or abroad, all kind of support is welcome. The only thing I wanted to make clear was that I looked at the site and saw an opportunity to make OEMR even better.
I wish I had saved the other question about this subject in one of these forums, since that also was a very promising site to be looked at. It means someone could be working on this topic.
During the weekend I might have some more time to explore. But don’t think that some kind of odd discussion from my side is a reason for offense! No definitely not in my this case. All it could be is the difference of expression between a programmer and a practicing physician.
Keep up the good spirit. We are dealing with a great product that still can have improvements.
Download and install the program and get in contact with their idea of drug interactions and freeware. Let me know if you found a way to connect with OEMR,
