Openemr2.9.0 problem with front desk payments

when a copay for today’s visit is getting posted in the payments window, amounts that are due by the patient for old visits are pre-filled in the “payment” box. My staff has been saving the entered copay for todays visit, without deleting the pre-filled amounts for old visits. Of course, our front payments report looks nice, but not accurate. Is it possible to modify the form so that the amounts are not pre-filled? This way, it is easier to post daily copays.

On the other hand I think this feature is very handy for when entering payments for old visits. Perhaps it could be called in with a "auto complete" button? If pressed, then all the boxes can be filled in.

Also, consider this scenario:

A pt was seen yesterday, but did not have their copay, and they bring it in today. We normally do not process the claims and clear the visits on the same day. Hence, when the staff is going to post the copay, there is no entry for yesterdays visit in the front desk payments form. They therefore enter it under today’s date. Upon saving a new encounter is created. So it looks like the patient was seen yesterday and today.

Any suggestions as to how to handle this??
