Hi,

Under the guidance of several Wikipedians, the OpenEMR Wikipedia article has been rewritten. Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenEMR

Really Looks great,  except that OEMR.org is not mention in any form and since we funded the bulk of the ONC certification status and development effort some links to our site and the videos and presentations we did on behalf of the project would be a good thing to add.

I’ll see if I can get one of the oemr folks to add the appropriate information and links.

Did OEMR.org per se fund the certification development?  I thought that was done by individual contributors and developers.  I wasn’t aware of donations to OEMR for that purpose, but perhaps I’m missing something.

Good Question

Much of the money paid to the developers at the beginning of the project was provided Dr Bowen +$100k in the name of OEMR and much of the contributed development was in the name of, or on behalf of OEMR.  (MI2, ZHH, Ensoftek, Garden State, etc…)

On top of that, the cost of the certification itself, some $20K+ was donated to OEMR specifically.

Much was also contributed individually and for ‘OpenEMR’ in general.  Pretty even I would guess, though I did not track all the contributed hrs nor all of the contributions.

It would not have happened at all without the OEMR of that much I am very sure.

Those are exactly the kinds of details that should be part of the OpenEMR story and therefore the wikipedia page…

Hi Tony,

A bit of context here:
A month ago, a Wikipedian pretty much wiped out most of the original OpenEMR article since it was thought to be too commercial and suggested us to focus on a neutral point of view in order to avoid any conflict of interest. I suggest reading through these pages before making mods to the wikipedia page (and suggest reading some wiki page articles that have high ratings, especially other open source projects):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:NPOV
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:COI

Obviously, all of us are involved in this project, so we all really need to focus on maintaining neutrality. This is why pretty much every statement in the article has a reference (or two) and why the additional references (the ones not cited in the article) are by authors/presenters not directly involved in the community.

Totally agree with that and with the intent and direction of the rewrite…
