Seeking an OpenEMR developer to participate in in upgrading OpenEMR to ONC Transitions of Care (ToC) capability.

Read all about the ONC Transitions of Care (ToC)Project here:
http://wiki.siframework.org/Transitions+of+Care+%28ToC%29+Initiative

The timeline of the project is to demonstrate OpenEMR ToC  at the 2012 HIMSS Interoperability Showcase, and possibly the IHE Connectathon.   (see schedule here:  http://wiki.siframework.org/file/view/ToC_RI_Pilots_Time_Line.docx )\\

Many of the OpenEMR development tasks for this project are similar to the ONC certification project tasks:

1. Update the OpenEMR Database to support the ToC Clinical Information Model -
http://wiki.siframework.org/ToC+CIM+Core+Data+Elements - most of this already exists in OpenEMR

2. Integrate the ToC Reference Implementation (RI) in OpenEMR.  The ToC RI is under development now by ONC, will be complete by the dates specified in the timeline, and is designed to be integrated in an EHR (or serve as a reference for native development of the EHR for the ToC capability)  The ToC RI is an XML  document translator that converts one type of ToC document to another.   Read about the ToC RI here:
http://wiki.siframework.org/ToC+Reference+Implementation+%26+Pilots+WG

3., Upon Execution of the OpenEMR ToC Use Case, create a ToC XML document for the patient, optionally translate it with ToC RI embedded in OpenEMR, and transmit the document to a) the referred provider; and b) the patient’s PHR.
Detail on ToC Use Case here:
http://wiki.siframework.org/ToC+Use+Case+%26+Requirements+%28UCR%29+WG

4. Upon receipt of a ToC document,  OpenEMR will prompt the OpenEMR administrator to update the patient, or do it automatically.

After the HIMSS demonstration we will pilot OpenEMR ToC with a distinguished primary care provider and his referral network.

Please let me know of you are interested in participating on this project.

Thanks
John

This link describes the architecture of ONC’s  Transitions of Care (ToC) Reference Implementation (RI), along with its relationship to the Clinical Information Model (CIM)

http://wiki.siframework.org/ToC+RI+Arch+Workflow

OpenEMR development to implement ONC Transitions of Care (ToC)  will use several XML documents developed in the ONC’s Java-based reference implementation:

.xsd documents that define the four ToC clinical document types
.xsl  style sheets to display the four ToC document types
.xsl documents to convert between ToC clinical document types
& validation tools for the ToC clinical document types

The ToC Clinical Informtion Model (CIM) will define what data elements must be added, if any, to the OpenEMR DB to support ToC.
