Hi everyone,
I’d like to get the conversation started around the exciting opportunities we can have with respect to our solution being used in the classroom.
Based on recent requests from a university, Brady began setting up the https://edu.openemr.io/ (bradymiller edit here: this site has been changed to https://edu.open-emr.org/ ) website for academic use cases. I am personally very excited about this because I believe we can have a good impact in the classroom and make good connections in the academic world. Much like my programming classes in college, there was always a lecture and then a lab… I hope we can help with the latter concept.
Here’s what I’m thinking for the website:
HOME PAGE
- OpenEMR’s feature set
- Description of OpenEMR as an amazing teaching tool (be sure to mention the fact that it is free and easy to pick up)
- Description of OpenEMR as a powerful research tool (use screenshots from the cTAKES project, Analytics project, and Joyce’s poster!)
- Highlights of universities already using OpenEMR in the classroom (GMU, and who else?)
Inspiring pictures/designs
GETTING STARTED PAGE
- Information on how to set up a shared cloud instance for your classroom (definitely want to use OpenEMR Cloud Express)
- Information on how to load in demo data
- Do we want information on how to load in ICD10 or is that too specific?
- Encouragements to let the OpenEMR community know that your university is using the solution (this is a bit sticky)
ASSIGNMENTS PAGE
- 5-10 Printouts of HTML homework assignments based (work with Joyce on this)
Once this is done, we can market the heck out of it with a press release and social media :). It may be worth trying to reach out to some unis, but this is not easy.
