Hi, has anyone succussfully interfaced these two? We’re thinking about a solutions whereby we use Amazing Charts for the EHR stuff, and OpenEMR for the Practice Management aspects.

Thanks in advance.

Amazing charts is it FREE or Free trial for 30 days…

From their website for the EHR:

Priced at just $1,200 per clinician license (one-time) and $1,195/year for ongoing support, maintenance,

Viewed the 3 minute Demo. Not certain that $2,395 + $2,988 for PMS is justified, compared to $0 for OE download & support.

Interoperability between AC & OE can be tested with their free trial.

AC (Amazing Charts) is our current EHR, but it’s weak in the PM department. We’re exploring a “Frankenstein” solution, whereby we use OEmr as our PM, but we’re not super tech savvy. From prelimnary reseach, it seems we need some kind of “bridge” scheme called “HL7”, correct?

With the exception of

grafting of different body parts may turn out hideously.

If you can handle this, probably the only professional support you will need is the database transfer.

You can do it manually yourself if you have enough time & staff.

OE is not yet certified for MU2, so that may be a concern.

Very few EMRs have complete HL7 bridge. In addition you would want immediate updates (e.g. coding in AC will need to be in EMR billings including subsequent updates).

Life is too short to fight two systems when you are exhausted with a single.

That’s what i was thinking. Cobbling pieces that don’t fit typically doesn’t end up well. After we pass MU2 with AC, we’ll have to seriously consider moving everything over to OE.

Herman Munster is one talented dude, for sure.

Thanks.

Prego.

If OE is certified for 2014 CEHRT by the end of this year, you’ll have to start running it on Jan 1, 2016, if you plan to use it for 2016 MU2. The reporting period probably will be one calendar year

If no certification by 12/31/15, you’ll have more time. If you go live in the middle of 2016, the Hardship Exception, based on vendor delay, can be applied.

Don’t be concerned about technical savviness. You know far more than I did when I made the transition 4 years ago. It was a DIY project made possible by great resources such as the Wiki & the Fora.

Buonissima fortuna.
