It has been 6 months since our last release. Yes, it is time again to wrap up details, avoid new additions, and work on releasing 2.8.4.

Not good timing here… I’m in the middle of a bunch of improvements for a multinational client right now. Can we wait about a month before we start finalizing a release?

Hey,
We’ve had quite a few changes, still a bunch in progress. I’ll try to do an assessment this weekend.

Hello,
The DBC is almost finished, but we can’t expect to commit it yet. We must run some more tests and then integrate it smoothly into the current version of openemr.
So no changes from me with this subject.

Is the CVS source stable enough top do an interim release before this major upgrade?

I think we’re finally about ready for this. So let’s get in any pending fixes! I’d like to do the release in 1-2 weeks.

Dear Rod,
How is 2.8.4 ?
Are you going to write a HOWTO on the new admin section?

Clients have been annoying me with work to do.
Will try to get to it this weekend. Yes, I’ll also write up something brief about administration.

Hello!
Although I did not finish with my evaluation of EMR software, I must say that I’m leaning towards OpenEMR…
Browsing/posting/replying in SF forums is, imho, not the best experience.
Have you considered to create regular mailing lists (instead of forums where one can subscribe, use of the bells & whistles of one’s preferred mailer, put mailing list(s) under Gmane to access them via news etc. ?
There are quite a lot of posts in the 3 forums, but forcing everyone to use web-only access is not pretty
Any thoughts?
Sincerely,
Gour

Ahh, this post just proves I’m not familiar with SF’s forums
Excuse me for hijacking the thread, but the previous post was meant as separate post

Well I found a couple of things to fix, so going to postpone the release for another week.
Yamil: What sort of development appeals to you?
orions_empire wrote on Monday, July 28, 2008:
Rod,
I can help you with PHP and MYSQL. If you have a list of bugs and some sort of routes for fixes, you can send them to me so I can help you. Yamil_Perez@yahoo.com
Cheers Team.

I think I’ll call the new release 2.9.0, due to the major changes. Especially since FreeB is no longer used. Any objections?

I am amazed how well the current cvs 2.8.4 version creates X12 and paper claims. It does represent a quantum leap, Rod.
I miss the "Lists" and "Layout" tabs on the Admin page. I am able to enter patients only with address in the state of California without that feature.

"Lists" and "Layouts" are shown on the "Admin" screen when I set up phpgacl to give me all the right permissions.

Right, you just need to give yourself "superuser" privilege.
