It seems that now when you choose a facility the calendar will only show the schedule for the providers at that facility, restricted by the Default Facility entry in the provider’s user profile.
Is there any way to configure to permit one provider in multiple locations? Creating a second profile for the roaming provider wouldn’t work for us.
The best solution seems to be to create a users_facility table and turn the Default Facility option in the user’s profile into a multiselect. How much code would that break?
Bill,
We have just seen this problem too, have you received any feedback on it? There is also another issue we noted that is somewhat related. If Dr. A and Dr. B - are both doctors for Office A (default) and have appointments at the same time, you do not see the second doctors appointment. It’s very confusing. We’ve also had appointments set for Dr. A at Office B (not his default) and the schedule is changed to Office A when I save it.
Are there any fixes for these things in the works? I do like the multi-select idea Bill - it probably depends on the database and how the office is linked to the doctor. I’m assuming it’s a one-to-one based on what we see in the user section.
2.8.3 won’t work for us either because facilities aren’t even in the mix when it comes to appointments.
I’d like to offer some suggestions. The first is to spend some time upgrading to v2.9.1. It has an improved calendar interface that should make life immediately easier. After upgrading you will need to change each provider to use the Outlook style calendar instead of the older default style.
For doctors working in two different facilities I suggest making heavy use of the IN and OUT of office events. Let me give an example:
Dr. Bob works at facility-A on Monday and Wednesday from 8am-2pm. He also works at facility-B on Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-5pm. Now, you will create IN office and four OUT of office events:
IN office Mon at 8am (in the comments field type the name of the Facility-A)
IN office Wed at 8am (in the comments field type the name of the Facility-A)
…
OUT of office Mon at 2pm (in the comments field type the name of the Facility-A)
OUT of office Wed at 2pm (in the comments field type the name of the Facility-A)
Now, if you’re using the Outlook style calendar you will see the name of the Facility appear about the IN office event. This is not a replacement for the feature request you’ve suggested but it can be a temporary work-around.
I like the idea that providers can be assigned to multiple facilities. It’s something that will surely come up in my Agency as well since we have 20 School Based Health Centers with staff that split their time between a few of them.
