OEMR Rebranding / White-Label

The company I work for is interested in re-branding OpenEMR for marketing purposes. Of course, we would maintain the proper code licensing. We have investigated with the DHHS on what this would look like with the Meaningful Use Certification, and as long as our “brand” is submitted as a rebrand of OpenEMR, the certification would carry over. Is this something that OpenEMR would be willing to do? Are there any other things that my company should take into consideration?

Not sure what you’re asking for?  It’s not unusual to rebrand open source stuff as long as the license is adhered to, so make real sure your bosses understand that.  For example they need to understand that if they change or build on the code and then distribute those changes, then they need to be made available to everyone.

These are the requirement for rebranding as the certification is managed and registered by OEMR 501©(3).

Corporate Membership in OEMR ($1,000/year) - includes all privileges of Enhanced Membership plus logo recognition on the oemr.org website, rebranding support for the certified version.
    * This membership level allows for rebrand tracking per ONC-ATCB rules. Send a screen shot and a diff of your code -vs- 4.0.0 and sign up to be a corporate member of OEMR. We will then review and post on the oemr.org site your status and “proof” for the ONC-ATCB as a rebrander.

See the wiki for more info on membership:  http://wiki.oemr.org/wiki/Main_Page#OEMR_a_501.28c.29.283.29
