No Fault one day Commercial the next

What would be the best way to manage patients that are seen under their no fault insurance for an accident on one day and then later in the week are seen under their commercial insurance for a chronic issue?  The patient is then seen the next week first under no fault and then under commercial insurance again and this continues for weeks.  I’m thinking that the patient would have to be in the system twice, once for each type of claim.  I understand that there are secondary and tertiary insurance spots in the system but there doesn’t seem to be an elegant way to be rotating between them.  Is there?  Thanks - Jen

I really could use some guidance here.  If anyone has had similar experience please let me know.  Thanks in advance - Jen

Jen,
Take a look at this thread, starting from the third post.

There isn’t really a good solution right now.  Some folks mention some rather labor intensive mechanisms they use, but I think that we would need to do some significant development work in order to make it work elegantly.

Would it be possible to have a drop down list that is populated in instances where a patient has more than one insurance company with those companies (and their type: no fault, wc, commercial, etc) and have that list be presented at the time of the scheduling of the visit so that the scheduler can select which company will be billed for that visit?  Then the data would need to be stored for that particular visit’s billing and could be changed for the next visit. - Jen
