Hello,

My name is Robert Down, I am hoping to become a contributor to OpenEMR. I just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself.

I have been developing in PHP for many years, and am currently working on undergrad degree in IT with long term goals of graduate work in the computer science area. My goal is to work in the healthcare IT industry.

I have work experience in enterprise level data scheming and have worked on system critical apps.

I am looking forward to contributing to this project.

Welcome!

We would love to have your help.  The best thing to do is download the developers virtual appliance or one of the developer installations from the website and use that to learn the system.  That version is the very most current stuff, updated daily, so it’s bleeding edge (for OpenEMR anyway).

Let Brady know what your SF ID is and he can add you to the project bug tracker, etc when you feel ready to tackle it.  At first you are going to want to post your questions on the HELP forum until you figure out what is a bug and what is a feature

When you start coding you will need a github.com account to post your code for review.  See the wiki entries at http://www.open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/OpenEMR_Wiki_Home_Page#Developer_Manuals

Tony,

I’ve had a copy of OpenEMR installed locally for a couple of months now and have been familiarizing myself with it.

I’ve also setup a git account according to the developer’s wiki.

I look forward to becoming a contributor to what appears to be an excellent project.
