MySQL 5.7 Upgrade?

Quick question,

Are there any pitfalls with upgrading to MySQL 8 from 5.7 for already installed systems, or any problems with installing fresh system to MySQL 8?

Note the mysql8 dockers add this --default-authentication-plugin=mysql_native_password setting (not sure if still needed with the current php versions, though):
