Multiple Facilities with Pt & Cal Lo

I have been approached by a group which plans to use OpenEMR as a single install, but serve a potential global base.  At issue is the problem of limiting patient and calendar viewing to the specific facility, eg Fac1 providers F1P1 & F1P2 must have ability to view each other’s schedules and patients, while they must not be able to look at F2P1 nor F3P1, neither of which should see any of the others’.

It would seem fairly simple , if tedious, since all search areas must have the lockout (probably best handled with a Globals.php setting to match only those with the same default facility as the user), but that would also require adding (or using an unused “user selectable”) list for the demographics, and drop-down only those facilities already existing.

Has anyone already done this, or similar?  If so, please let me know ASAP.  Thanks.

We have done this at MI2 and have specific patches that will handle it for most of what you desire.  I see if I can tease out just the stuff you need.

Tony;

If so, do you plan to make it available to the community via CVS?  That one capability alone could make OpenEMR a potential HIE (Health Information Exchange) candidate with some tweaking for expanding the “allowed” list, (say a search for a user ID surrounded by a space and a comma in a text field) for any individual patient, still in accordance with current HIPAA rules for consent.  Envision that as a patient arrives at a new provider/facility, they are asked to input a code to authorize that new provider to access the patient record.  From then, any previously authorized provider will be able to see the newest inputs as well as all prior info.  Conceivably, every patient could be assigned as a “user” who could access the system just as any provider does, but would have no “write” authorities, and would not have calendar priveledges either.  All providers COULD use the same system for billing and A/R, but I’d suggest that NOT be a use, preferring to suggest that all “members” use a single admin group to track, bill, etc.  But THAT is another story…

Can you send me some details for review?  Thanks

At this time it’s a 3.0.1 patch and we don’t have the time to test it against the tip, so I doubt it will be released that way.   I emailed the whole thing to you on 12/2 did you not get it?
