Migrate old files to 4.2?

browndrake wrote on Monday, February 09, 2015:

I am just starting to use openEmr again, after not using it for a few years.
is there a way (that is worth the effort) to migrate data from openEmr 3.2 to 4.2?

I have backup files from then but would think that they would not be compatible.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Aaron

It is still possible to upgrade from 3.2 slowly up to 4.2 with the patches available. Follow the WIKI instructions for upgrading.

Sometimes it is also done 3.2 tot 4.2 direct, but this can give rise to problems with some tables etc. If upgrading you should be in the same Windows or Linux/Ubuntu versions.

Installing with a backup from 3.2 direct into 4.2 is asking for problems.
(Developers, please correct me if I am wrong in this advise.)

Direct upgrading is supposed to work. Give it a shot.

There is a chance that the Ubuntu version is outdated.

Did you get around to installing Linux Mint Mate?

If you install LM 17.1 there are 2 options:

  1. use this to upgrade from 3.2. It may be necessary to upgrade PHP first.

  2. if above does not work, try installing this & upgrade with these instructions remembering to use 3.2 from the drop down menu.
