Migrate from Practice Fusion?

Has anyone tried migrating from Practice Fusion to Open-EMR? I am told that Practice Fusion will grant me a single bulk download of my data if I terminate my account with them, but I am not sure if this data will be portable into Open-EMR. Thanks.

It’s all well and good to have the data, but that’s not the hard part. Most practices would require professional support to properly and accurately transfer it into OpenEMR.

This post will give a potential user a sense of the complexity involved in the import of local pharmacies.

The key to conversion is getting ALL of the desired data into a machine-readable format that is understood. So figure out what you want converted, what reports or exports can be done to dump the data, and then a developer can probably help you get it pulled in.

You definitely don’t want to be stuck with a huge glob of data and no EHR that can work with it. You do want a period of time during which you can run parallel systems.

Good points Rod. This link provides some more info relating to the pf export process and user experience:

http://forum.practicefusion.com/practicefusion/topics/can_practice_fusion_export_all_of_my_patient_data_if_i_close_my_account

seems you can get the patient file first (.csv) and import into openemr and start working while waiting up to 5 weeks for pf to give you access to an .xls file and a ream of the pdfs you’ve uploaded

Great link, Stephen.

The posts from facialcenter in LaJolla and silverant were most informative. “Exit penalty” indeed.

One of the posts from Stephen’s excellent link:

The whole process described by PF is misleading. The only data that is easily transferred are the demographics. This does not include the “real” chart. The PDF files have to be generated by the client and have to be done individually for each patient. And these PDF files do not include labs or documents! This truly is a HIPPA nightmare for the doc who is transferring…and his old practice that may be required to transfer charts without charging any fees!

Not sure if this is one of the ones Dr. Lee is referring to.
