Migrate default calendar

hey,

Discussed migrating the default to Jason’s calendar in the brief roadmap here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openemr/forums/forum/202506/topic/3402547

If were gonna do this, we should do it soon to give as much time as possible for testing and ensuring its features are up to par. Here’s the link we discussed this along with several minor improvements that would help this calendar:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openemr/forums/forum/202506/topic/3085314

If agreed, then what would be best way to migrate to default. Seems two general options.

1)set it for default for only new users and installations (from next release), so old users still get their old calendar.

2)set it as default for both new and the old users. This would require some care, because we don’t want to end up switching the outlook users back to the original by mistake.

hey,

Chose for option #1. So new installations will set the admin user up with the outlook calendar. And when creating a new user the default selection will be outlook. I changed the name ‘Default’ to ‘Original’. Note I also fixed a previous bug in calendar so you can now change the calendar style without needing to logout/login again.

We can consider this outlook style calendar to be on "probation" for now since it will be gettting much more testing attention since it’s now the default style in the cvs demo (3.2.x), This was a very simple change, so reverting back to the original default is always an option.

Please test this calendar extensively (will show up as default on cvs demo as default tomorrrow AM), and give any feedback regarding bugs or needed features (especially anything that is lacking in this calendar that was in the orignal calendar).

We’ll also possibly need a new name for this calendar style since some have brought up microsoft issues. Any ideas?

Thanks Brady.  #1 sounds best to me also.  I’d only add that it’s important to make very sure that users know they have a choice.  The calendar will be their very first impression of OpenEMR, and it would be very bad if they don’t like it and didn’t notice that they have a choice.

Maybe a "first time" message upon login… not sure.
