MI2/ZHH lab vs OpenEMR lab

Hi tony/ZH peoples

What is the difference between your lab interface and current OpenEMR 4.1.2 lab interface.

My thoughts on current openemr lab interface is

1.We can send/receive orders/results through SFTP between lab and clinic

2.Also Download HL7 orders from openemr and send it to lab and receive results from them and upload HL7 results into openemr

Is the same modules you have in your interface or you have any additional features on top of it

Please advise

Thanks

Can anyone please clarify this

My understanding is that MI2/ZH implements an intermediate service between the clinic and lab. The built-in procedure order/results module does not.

The Labcorp and Quest interfaces are managed somewhat different but, specifically are automated with the Labs via secure connectors. The key issue is that these are interfaces that as sponsored and certified by the Labs themselves on a client by client basis.

Functionality varies with the interface type, but is generally more comprehensive in scope. Including automated compendium updates, label printing etc for the “orders” interfaces.

Note: I have never run or tried to run the built in Procedures systems, but much of the interfaces we support at based on that code at least partially.

So, the latest stuff may do a lot more than I am aware of.

Do you think the current procedure order/results lab module will work with Labcorp/Quest or any other labs.

I hope you had some thoughts on this while you was developing this module

Thanks for your suggestions.

So the MI2/ZHH lab module are builded using qwest/labcorp Interface on the top of openemr procedure/results module.

Please brief the flow.If ZHH people is available

Yes I think it should work as it’s all HL7 standards compliant. However these companies may have some particular requirements as to reporting, printed requisitions, etc. that would have to be addressed.

I suspect that they will not allow it directly. The requirements, testing
and certifications are strict.

You may be able to do the ‘grease-monkey’ type model where you use their
web-app (care360 for Quest) and download results, but I don’t think you’ll
be able to do orders that way.

MI2-WMT LabCorp and CPL orders modules are coming soon (in
testing/certification). ZHH may already have one or both live as well.

Thanks for your information.

However if we get some information about the ZH team, that would an additional information about what they have done in lab interface for quest/labcorp for forum viewers

Hi,

For getting lab certification they will test features like placing orders, get requisition and view results and makes sure that it is easy enough for providers to use. It also involves testing the connectivity and security, testing to ensure the compendium is properly used to order the available tests for each lab, etc.

In ZH lab interface we have completed the connectivity and certification with Quest lab. For the time being we are working with other labs.

Thanks & Regards
