Loop 2310A REF02 Referring Provider

Error when submitting Medicare claim via Availity, regarding Referring Provider (Box 17 on a HCFA). Medicare allows only the NPI number as the primary ID for the Referring provider (and does not allow a secondary ID), but the X12 generator is pulling in and adding the UPIN number into the X12 file, obtaining the UPIN from the UPIN field at Administration/Users/Edit Users (where the provider is defined as one of the user). In the X12 file, the UPIN number appears ~REF*1G*Uxxxxx. The 1G denotes the following number as a UPIN. Any suggestions how to get rid of the UPIN? Thanks, Dr. Holmes

(Also, the 4.0 does not allow me to delete the UPIN number from the field in Edit Users.)

After reviewing the gen_x12_837.inc.php file, it appears that the Referring Provider Secondary Indentification coding in the Loop 2310A code section may no longer be required for ANSI 837 v5010 (but, some clearinghouses, such as Availity, are already requiring the v5010 elements). What part of that code should be disabled (//) so the Referring Provider Secondary ID is not placed into the X12 output file? THANKS!!!!
