Just launched test ami in aws cloud

I’ve been working to make OpenEMR as portable as possible to make this available to all, and keep secure as per hippa, I just launched deb lamp server with openemr EBS ami in aws w-1 Oregon region t1-micro which is free tier, currently testing with nessus and hope someone has access to cis-cat security tools. I will market as SAS but free to openemr developers. Listed as private ami for now until testing is favorable.
Also desktop versions available for cd, dvd, usb, sd card, micro sd card, in Ubuntu and debian flavors 10.04 LTS, 12.04LTS & Debian 6.0 squeeze. all installable or live versions with webmin and security built in.
link to running ami, login: admin passwd: debemr
http://ec2-50-112-212-181.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/openemr

email for access to ami > aws doccbst1@gmail.com
according to aws I need your aws account # to allow permissions. if no post here please include your history with openemr development.
back to nessus report for now, thanks for any and all interest.

Looks like the virtual machine in VMWare en Virtual Box. But your link does not connect…. may be there is some type in the long HTTP://……?

I just clicked and went straight to the openemr login page, don’t see why yours would not ? will try at home on another pc.

Yes, when I got home this didn’t work either so I terminated and tried again, this one has gui gnome and I connected using nx nomachine I can connect in nx session on my home laptop firefox and ms explorer and nook android using dophin mini

http://ec2-50-112-19-5.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/openemr/

hope it works, I cloned the other one and had errors so this is the original before creating custom ami, things happen when amazon creates ami from so I don’t know what happened, on this one apache works fine but webmin works internal fron nx session but not external ? if anyone wants to try nx gnome desktop login debemr password debemr on :

ec2-50-112-19-5.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com

I know gets confusing , this one is using10.04 lucid ubuntu not debian, its a little easier to use.
thanks for patience, but I think this is future of EMR, and pc’s in general,
nx session on amazon is pretty cool.
let me know if any of this works and I’ll try custom ami creation again.

NOPE, still no vissible page. I suppose it has to do with prior permissions to go into ec2 …… us-west……

I could open an account in ………amazonaws.com but did not find anything in search for openemr.

Tnx for keeping trying.

Hope you will find the solution.

By default, an AWS instance doesn’t open its ports to the world. You may still need to open port 80 from the AWS console.

blankev wrote on Saturday, September 22, 2012:

Tnx, YES i could enter OpenEMR but with Login and Password from OpenEMR demo sites: admin/pass

doccbst wrote on Saturday, September 22, 2012:

The online version is rather slow. Meaning there has to be an increase in speed or use some kind of synchronization. Could be something like a Local PC version can be used as default with synchronization to make OpenEMR available on more facilities……… if the synchronization can be made to run during usage it can be used on more than one local facility……

But it could be a great option but needs more exploration.

Tnx for sharing, Pimm

I tried to export and import CSV files to accomodat data in your Cloud version. It does not work not even the exported file, just made with the same OpenEMR. Export and Import comment is:

Invalid parameter for CSV import: Fields enclosed by

Seems there is something wrong with: phpMyAdmin version

bradymiller wrote on Saturday, September 22, 2012:

Hi,
Suggest using more recent OpenEMR version 4.1.1, which is much faster than 4.1.0 (then we likely won’t get hung up on speed issues).

dd was running so maybe why slow, mine is pretty quick now webmin works now and this is running on micro 32bit so about 635MB memory so upgrades will definitely speed up.
I’m making another ami now so have to see if it works and will register so dev can run and test.
I’m an xp point and click guy so slower than true linux experts,
I do appreciate all help and input . Openemr rocks all I hope all physicians eventually use this amazing software. thanks to all the developers and users.

I just used your stock deb install from wiki, will patches upgrade to 4.1.1 ? or should I reinstall manually, I’ll explore some more and post back later, gotta go do yard work now, thanks for interest.

P.S.I’ll leave this version running until new ami cleared for use, I also need input on security for hippa as far as production use.

Hi,

The deb package will do an automatic upgrade for you(the deb/ubuntu package is a hidden gem). Here’s the instructions for upgrading:

DocCBST,

today 23rd spetember 2012, GMT -6, local time Curacao 06:00 hrs, availability of your OpenEMR AWS site was great. No time delay like yesterday local noon time, what was to say terrible at least…….

Could therebe a CLOUD problem during rush hours? Have to find out if it is my site of the Internet or somewhere in the cloud.

If you can find the time, please upgrade to V 4.1.1.

Why is it not possible to upload CSV files through phpMyADMIN? On purpose or something to do with MySQL or phpMyAdmin on the AWS site?

Have a nice day!

You would have to access file on local disk with proper permissions next week I will upload file to server using webmin then MySQL import data set with demo patients physician and ICD codes I have on PC at work actually just a backup from openemr backup and hope it works, it’s what I usually use to prepare live systems for CD USB so should work.
Webmin is the juice for any server admin you can also use the nx nomachine but don’t have root priveleges so. Extra steps involved to do tasks.working to fine tune new ami and will upgrade to 4.1.1 .
thanks for input

I did the upgrade, easy with Bradys deb, inserted ICD codes, and one patient, the upgrade did not work properly threw all kind of errors and locked me out tried seperate install of phpmyadmin still failed had to reinstall openemr and manually import codes and patient data, not sure where i messed up , i’ll try agan on virtual machine later to see wheer I messed up, instructions are pretty cut and dry, so when i figure it out I’ll post a how-to for the novices like me.

Here is current link again to aws ami, I will keep running until my copy is polished for use:

http://ec2-50-112-19-5.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/openemr

I just realized I am posting this from the nomachine client in the aws ami posted above using firefox and just tried the link and openemr connects on link and localhost.
 kinda confusing sometimes !!
enjoy and add user data, doctors, patients etcf you like, I’ll add a neat form I made later this week it, has point and click encounter and prints a report. nomachine is only three steps add host, user debemr password debemr and connection and you are in.
thanks for help all !!

I did make a nation note for you OpenEMR demo.

< , > etc do show like <> , this has to do with MySQL language for tables. But I don’t know how to correct. You might have other places where this is not nice to view in the fields results.

Hope to make some kind of extra info for the WIKI page on LBF and Nation Notes. Realy interesting material once you can handle the problems.

I should mention this on an other forum thread, but since I made a Nation Note in your Demo every body can see the results. I will also make an additional category so the missing link to new Category will show an can be found in the tables.
