Is anyone already working on a FHIR module?

Wondering if there is already an effort underway to develop a FHIR module to provide interoperability with other health care systems possibly via a Health Information Exchange.

I’m considering attending the HL7 - January 2015 Working Group Meeting - Connectathon and thought working to connect up an OpenEMR system with others at the meeting could be a great way to learn FHIR as well as make a good start on a FHIR module.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Scott

We are working on a FHIR interface with some startup funding from Dr Bowen.

Very new and in progress… feel free to pipe in and join the fun

This is a project we are doing for more than one customer. It is a full FHIR HL7.org compliant interface. It is a standalone server that maps FHIR resources to OpenEMR database elements, bi-directionally.

It is a work in progress and we implemented about 5 of the first patient demograpics related resources so far.

see: https://www.hl7.org/fhir/ as a starting place for the API rules

Attached is a short example of mapping a FHIR Resouce to OpenEMR

The OpenEMR On FHIR project has been officially moved to the mi-squared github account. Anyone wishing to contribute to this effort is welcome to join us there. Ken Chapple is the lead on this.
