It looks like the Shop is managed with its own software. Since frame inventory or its billing has little or no medical value, wouldn’t it be easier and cleaner to import/refresh patient data to this system using any real-time method - direct database access / JSONP / web service from emr?

the inventory information when checked in in the optical shop software populates OpenEmr and the items when sold reflect in the optical shop. I don’t know about the “Since frame inventory or its billing has little or no medical value” . I guess the Doctors that are affected by this would have to weigh in.
Just trying to get OpenEmr out there , I have only been around for a year.
