Interface questions for HL5 hospital interface

Hello,
I got a few questions from Hospital for HL7 interface. It would be great if you can help or show me the reference link.

  1. OpenEMR can receive HL7 unsolicited result(ORU) via inbound interface?
  2. Can the interface accpet textual results (ORU^R01 or ORU^RO3)?
  3. Can the interface accpet discrete results (MDM^TO2)?
  4. OpenEMR can transmit demographic information outbound (ADT^AO4 or ADT^AO8)?

I don’t know the terms., i.e., ORU, RO1, AO4,etc and also wondering whether OpenEMR can provide these interfaces? I appreciate your help. thanks.

  1. Yes.
  2. Only the ORU^R01 incoming message type is supported (MSH segment field 8).
  3. It accepts discrete results as well as embedded documents but I don’t know what MDM^TO2 refers to.
  4. I don’t know those codes but outgoing HL7 orders do include patient ID, name, address, sex, phone and SSN.
