Is it possible to import data in xml format eg from a heart rate monitor or GPS data into open emr ? I use it as a sports medical record system and ome of my colleagues are requesting this data be part of the medical record. Rod Roark and I work together on this

many thanks Dr J Brown

Has anyone already done this?  If not I expect the task would be one of creating a new form (perhaps an encounter form) to accept and parse the downloaded data.  I don’t know what the XML schema is but if you have sample data we can surely figure that out.

Possible? all things are possible…

the question really is ‘how would we best integrate this kind of data into OpenEMR’. and part of that question is really something we need your end to answer: how do you envision using this information, tied to a medical record? do you need charting, and graphs, or a difrerent method of a reporting system? what would the form for this data look like ideally? would the data better be represented by multiple forms… etc.

I guess the big question is “how do you want to use this data within the EMR”. set up a custom form that has an ‘import data’ button, accepts a file upload from the doctor’s computer, and imports it to the EMR… then what. what format is the data in currently, and how would you like the data presented?
