I am a long time follower of this topic and have installed OpenEMR on windows in C:\xampp.
All is going well but I would like help with the following (in plain english, step by step)
1. How to install RXnow? I’ve downloaded the zip file into the contrib\rxnorm
2. same as above for snomed
3. How do I import patient data from another billing program. I can generate reports with pertinent data in text format
4. Appointments can be made into slots when I am not working. How do I prevent that? I’ve entered my office hours with “IN” & “OUT”
Thanks for the help.
5. I contacted Availity and received my numbers. I’ve entered my sender ID, receiver ID, PER06. Do I need any other settings?
Note that although we have a mechanism to install these tables, they are both not yet integrated into OpenEMR. The integration of these things into OpenEMR are would not be difficult to accomplish but will take development time (volunteer, professional, etc): http://open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/Diagnostic_Codes_Development#SNOMED
For importing, just need to know OpenEMR enough to know which tables to place the data in. Some developers/vendors here can likely provide more advice if provide more specifics. For appointments, don’t think there is a current mechanism to not allow appt within the OUT hours (although schedulers should see the difference in shading of schedule in the IN vs OUT (not allowing scheduling during out times would likely be a straightforward feature to add, which would be a very nice option to have in the official codebase). I’ll defer to others on availity and billing, since my knowledge in that area are very limited.
