Installing 5.0.0

I have downloaded the version on the web page and when I try to install it onto Windows XP, I get all types of errors with Apache and Mysql.
Apache starts as a service and runs that way, I had to use an older version of Apache than is in the software package, the enclosed version tells me it is not a valid win32 application.
But Mysql will not load, telling me that the ports are in use. I have check all the orts and it is open, and I have disabled the firewall on the laptop.

Anyone have any suggestions.

Previous version 4.2.0 works ok on the same laptop

We have received reports of this on forum and chat:

HTTPD not a win 32 application in ver 5.0.0

When I loaded this last version of the program and sent to start the apache server it came of with this not being a valid win 32 application. I cannot figure this one out on my own, i am not at all familiar with apache server. Dave

Looks like XAMPP does not support windows xp.

Can't install XAMPP on my Windows XP computer due to httpd.exe and php.exe no being valid win32 applications

What seems really odd, though, is that OpenEMR 4.2.0 is working, while 5.0.0 does not.
(this has also been previously reported)
