Situation
Our primary care outpatient practice in Jamaica still uses ICD9 for billing. However, when we try to load those codes they don’t show up. For now, what we have been doing is converting the ICD10 offline from OpenEMR since our billing is currently external to the system. However, we would like to have the option to load the ICD9 codes as well.
Our second issue is that we cannot find the procedures/services codes for billing, only the diagnostic ones. As an example, our physicians regularly do glucose/sugar tests, which are fully out-of-pocket and we need to be able to flag those procedures alongside the diagnostic codes. An encounter with a diabetic patient would typically need a diabetes diagnostic code and a glucose/sugar test procedure code.
