I just did this week. I got the onboarding package on Wednesday. I have been reading and reading and reading. We are slated to start the development process next week. I was told it should take 6 -8 weeks to complete the module build.

I started to write a module for bamboo health. But when we got their collaboration agreement the project was over. Interfacing with bamboo is actually quite simple, just a couple of api calls. Their only software requirement is that you put a button that gets the report somewhere on the dashboard. The deal breaker of the issue is that you are responsible for actions of anyone worldwide that uses the module. We weren’t willing to take on that responsibility.

If not already IMO it will be soon available by all e-Prescribe vendors. Y’all might want to look into that. Although, I supposed if manually doing prescriptions then you may well need for your state. For OpenEMR and our module writers at least Bamboo is a godsend because if PDMP is anything like most all state required reporting, they all want to be different in their requirements.

I like watching implementers for any project that expands or improves interop in OpenEMR.

I have the module working in the patient dashboard. Yes, I am going to take on the role that they require. Hopefully, I can add this module to the list of modules from vendors.

Update. The module is in review. The hopes are that it will be ready for distribution before the end of the month. I started a new page to make it more visible.

I was recently ask the question why build this module. Prescription services like NewCrops already have it built in. What is the point of having it stand alone. Not everyone that monitors prescription drugs prescribe them. There was a use case where a nurse practitioner want to monitor the patients coming into the practice before assigning the patient to a physician. I am sure there are other use cases for seeing this drug information separate and apart from the act of prescribing medication.
