Hi everyone,
I want to open a high-level discussion regarding the possibility of bringing ICHOM (International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement) Standard Sets into the OpenEMR ecosystem.
For those familiar or interested in value-based healthcare, ICHOM focuses on tracking global, condition-specific patient outcomes. I am looking at this from a broad perspective and want to explore how OpenEMR as a platform can host or support such standardized frameworks.
Since I am in the conceptual stage, I don’t want to limit this to any specific existing tool, version, or technical framework. Instead, I’d love to hear the community’s thoughts on:
-
The Big Picture: Do you see value in OpenEMR natively supporting or aligning with ICHOM standards to enhance value-based care globally?
-
The Ideal Approach: If we were to design a scalable way to implement these condition-specific outcome measurements (both clinician-entered and patient-reported), what would be the best architectural vision?
-
Feasibility vs. Development: From a development standpoint, is this something that could thrive within OpenEMR’s philosophy, and what would it take to make OpenEMR “ICHOM-ready”?
I would highly appreciate your conceptual thoughts, ideas, and any vision you might have on how OpenEMR can lead in tracking global patient outcomes.
Let’s brainstorm!
