Email interface

Hi there, we have created a email “inbox” that can be used to link attachments to patient records, it uses the documents interface for storage.

It is very basic still, however we feel the functionality is a massive advantage (fax to email, scan to email etc)

It’s been a while since I used GIT, so please forgive me if my branch is all over the place.

here it is though : receive email and link to patient · tajemo/openemr@2eb7f84 · GitHub

let me know if it needs anything

regards
Craig

Is it possible to give some more explanation on what you did achieve? It looks good and what I did see (I am a non-Developer) is that it gives certainly an extra dimension on import of documents, pictures etc.

Conclusion is so far: I can create an e-mail, send my attachments to my “OpenEMR-email-address” and import the attachment in OpenEMR. No need of faxes, but I suppose there is a need to put the attachment manually in the folder of the client?

Encryption by sender/receivers of attachments/files also included?

Isn’t Direct doing same thing?

cbezuidenhout wrote on Wednesday, May 14, 2014:

yes, that’s the idea, create an email address to use in openEMR, and send emails with attachments to that address.

you can then open your inbox in openEMR and link attachments to patients with a search

it allows for SSL email servers such as gmail, but not encrypting of the file upon upload

what’s Direct ?

This message is the starting thread. Subsequently there are several updates.

If you are serving market not covered by HIPAA concerns, Direct may seem like overkill. But if you review Luis Maas/EMR Direct’s contributions, you should be able to leverage the plumbing rather than add another approach to basic email functions. Hopefully you will then use your budget to add more features that will help management of Direct messages as well.
