Is there a way to discharge patients and transfer them to a separate page so they’re not mixed in with the active ones? Can’t find any documentation on this procedure.

Hi Alex,
With the existing OpenEMR, we have option to mark the patient as deceased. Apart from that we do not have any specific option to mark a patient as inactive.
This can be done through code customization.

We used the translation to change deceased reason and date on the form so staff does not feel weird ‘killing’ someone when they do not show up for 3 years or more. In the reason we note ‘Last encounter xx/xx/xxxx’ or ‘Deceased’. That is the easy part. Several scripts do not take this flag into account when fetching list of patients.
