I am setting up Open EMR on a Windows XP Pro Sp3 PC.  I extracted to the C:\ drive.  When I run the setup I have tried b  ‘Have setup create the database’’  I get the following messages: ‘Connecting to MySQL Server… OK.  Creating database… ERROR. Check your login credentials.  unable to execute SQL: ‘create database openemr characterset utf8_general_ci’ due to: Can’t create database ‘openemr’; database exists.’.

I tired “I have already created the database”.  I get "ERROR. Check your login credentials. unable to connect to database as user ‘openemr’

Hi,

Did you use the following installation instructions(xampp/openemr package):
http://open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/OpenEMR_4.1.1_XAMPP_Package_Installation

Or (openemr package)
http://open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/OpenEMR_4.1.1_Windows_Installation

Also, which version (4.1.0 or 4.1.1)?

OpenEMR

I believe it is 4.1.0.  I installed as per the instructions.  I open the browser to the localhost and run theOpenEMR setup.  The first screen starts with “Welcome to OpenEMR setup…”  The second screen says “Step 1”  It lets me choose “Have setup create a database” or “I already created the database”  No matter which I choose, I can not get past the next screen.

I need to create a database so I would prefer that option.

Hi,

It appears you already have a database called openemr installed. If there is no data in it, then suggest dropping it trying the installation again.

Also recommend trying the recently released version 4.1.1 instead:
