I am the one remaining staff member of a solo private practice that recently closed. We have about 1,000 patients in the eClinicalWorks EMR software. (we have used that software for about 4 years, used paper charts for the previous 24 years.) I’m inquiring about hiring someone to do a data transfer of the EMR records to Open EMR, so that I can continue to do medical record requests; this is the only function I will need. I can obtain an encrypted hard drive with raw data format, used only for data transfer. Thank you.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the enquiry. Data transfer can be long and difficult based on the formate that the data was sent to you.
Is it possible for you to run the eClinicalWorks program locally?
Realistically patient demographics is the biggest thing that all databases share that are real similar in my experience.
If you could request a PDF of each patient chart instead of raw data, that would help you a lot more because you can import the PDF into the program under documents and have a complete record of the patient before moving to OpenEMR.
Another options is to have eClinical works send you CCR XML files of the patients charts. In OpenEMR click on Patient/Client -> Import and follow the instructions there.
