hi,
I have patients with their pictures in Arabic langauge, but when I download the folder “documents” to my computer, then upload it again to its location, openemr program change the name of my picture automatically (for example change from: “عناد الععلييوي.1” to: #U0639#U0646#U0627#U062f #U0627#U0644#U0639#U0644#U064a#U0648#U064a.1), so I can’t access to patients’s pictures until I change names of the pictures to its original names.
any solution to the problem because I have much patients (more of 700 patients)

You are going to need to track down where the character set is getting confused. It sounds like it’s part of your “download” and “upload” process, and that’s really more of an operating systems issue than something specific to OpenEMR. Something to try might be to create an archive of the documents directory (like a zip or a tar file) and transferring that or trying a different transfer protocol.

More information about your transfer process and the operating systems involved might be helpful in identifying your issue. Is the server a different OS than the computer you are downloading to?

Honestly, though your problem isn’t in an area I have much experience with, so that’s about all the help I can provide.

hi,
OS on my PC is windows 7.
you see, that when I upload any Arabic picture name, its name appear like this “______________________________.1.jpg”, and it don’t display, so I need to change its name manauly, then its name go like this “#U0627#U0644#U0639#U0644#U064a#U0648#U064a.1” in File Manager

What OS is the server you are downloading the files from?

Suggest that you play with the region and language settings on the windows control panel, but like I said, this is really more of a Windows issue rather than an OpenEMR issue, suggest you look to other resources.

Hi,

The documents module breaks on non-latin1 characters (ie. it converts them to _). See here for info on this bug. Guessing shouldn’t be too tough of a fix:

Any takers?

Notepad has an option for encoding besides ANSI. There should be a straigtforward way to do the same for titles of files.

If Issam’s OS is in Arabic and OpenEMR is also in Arabic, does the break occur because the later is only 58% translated?

sorry for late, because I was in ayad vacation,

This YouTube tutorial shows how to display in Arabic for Windows.

Linux in Arabic Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

The Dev. Demo is available in Arabic, but not completely translated.

Experiment on the Dev. Demo and see if you can overcome the break that Brady wrote about.

Arabic will be available in 4.1.2, which will be released soon.

If you are able to fix the bug or devise a work-around, please post.
