I have often gotten the request for the Objective part of Nation SOAP notes to be able to insert current encounter’s vitals. Is this possible?
Thanks

A NationNote can be used to record vital signs, but modifications will be required to calculate BMI and to chart measurements on graphs.
What is the rationale of using a NationNote when a simple LBV form will do? If graphs have been requested, it is rather inconvenient to view them tucked inside an encounter.

Basically, the physician would like to reference the vital signs (taken by the MA) in the Objective part of the soap notes.
The same way you can insert a patient’s name into the Nation Notes, I’d like to insert the current encounter’s Weight, BP etc.

A NationNote can be created with each of the vital sign parameters as Components, which the assistant can click and then enter the measurements.
It would be more efficient to have the parameters as fields with textboxes in a regular LBV form. That way the assistant can enter the measurements without the added steps of bringing up the WYSIWYG editor and choosing the Components.
Of course, the customer is always right; so one obliges even if it’s not the most streamlined way to do things.
Harley Tuck’s well written article on the subject.

Ed,
Basically speaking, that function would have to be coded into the Nation Note. It is not a native feature.

Got it. Thanks Sherwin & fsgl.
