First of all I would like to congratulate you all
for the brilliant development of OpenEMR. This software is really
wonderful and it has been a pleasure to dig into it in the last couple
of weeks.
I live in Brazil nowadays and i am trying to adjust it to the Brazilian
reality, and so far things are going perfect. I am working on the full
translation to Brazilian Portuguese, I would say that I have around 50%
ready by now, and i should finish it by the end of December, when I will
be more than pleased to share it with the rest of the community.
I have a question to ask tho. I am doing the date changes to the
Brazilian standard (dd-mm-yyyy) in every step of the software, and this
has been very tiring…
Do you know if there is an easier way? If someone has a ready function
to work with this?
Check out the openemr/library/date\_functions.php file. You’ll fix some of the dates by making an entry for ‘Portuguese (Brazilian)’ there. For example the title bar uses it openemr/interface/main/main_title.php .
Note it isn’t used much, but this would be a good place to place language specific data formatting code. Ideally, I’d suggest ensuring that the yyyy-mm-dd format is maintained in database while then changing output to desired formatting via a language specific function(s). Ideally, all date inputs should be done with the date widget so formatting shouldn’t be an issue. If you follow these ideals, then could possibly migrate your changes into the official OpenEMR source code at some point.
2) For the translations
We have google docs translation spreadsheet for translations; Check it out (note your language is at column N, which is now only 6% completed). This is the best place to enter in translations(very tough to get external list of translations into this spreadsheet, so better to type them here, if possible), and we release these every several weeks into the online demos and into tables that can be dowlnoaded into your local OpenEMR (). For more information on this check out our . If you want modifcation access to the google docs spreadsheet. just send me your email address to brady@sparmy.com (I’d rec signing up for a google account with your email address first).
