Hi-
I have setup a small OpenEMR demo for a small clinic and the office manager needs Authorization Tracking capabilities. Is this a feature that is available in OpenEMR?
Thank you,

Do you mean writing a log entry when something is authorized? I don’t think that’s in there, but it doesn’t sound difficult. If you mean something else, please explain.

I am having difficulty understanding exactly what the office manager is referring to. However, from what I have gathered so far, some of the patients are only authorized for 10 visits. Each time the patient visits the clinic, the visit is subtracted from the total amount of authorized visits.
Does this make sense?

OK. There could be a count of remaining visits in the patient demographics which is automatically decremented when a new encounter is created (and which could be blank if it does not apply). Perhaps also an alert in the patient notes field when the visits are exhausted. Again, not difficult.

I have a client that is after the same feature. They said that and insurance company may say the patient can have 30 visits this year but we are authorizing 6. So they need a way to keep track of the 6 visits and an alert so that someone can call and get additional authorization once the 6 are done. Might be beneficial to have the alert show up in the notes area in red and on the new appointment form when a new appointment is trying to be scheduled but there are no authorized visits available.
Thanks.
