Has anyone implemented AMC/CQM entries in Layout Based Forms? As an example, we have several forms that have a section that documents the relevant education provided. The providers then have to remember to update another form so we get the reporting entry. Last year it was a problem to reconcile the information before attestation.
If the LVB forms have the Provide Education Resource box built in, but another step is required to have it show up in the AMC report, where is the efficiency?
Our 3 Eye Clinical Quality Measures are not tracked by the Standard Measure report because that project has not been completed. It is a bit more work to run the diagnosis and PQRS lists to get the numbers, but it is easily accomplished.
In busy practices it is difficult for physicians to remember to do all these extraneous steps, otherwise known, not so affectionately, as “jumping through hoops”. If the physician is still learning to use the EHR, it is a double burden. I remember my own Family physician going bonkers doing both last November and she is young enough to be tech-saavy.
Another solution is to have staff do the necessary clicking to ensure proper tracking. Office staff, generally consisting of women, multi-tasks regularly; therefore it would not require more skill on their part, just more time to accomplish this new chore.
Since the reporting is a annual event, we run several database updates before running the reports - not the best approach but quite accurate and without much overhead. But it also takes some programming effort so we are asking if anyone has implemented a better solution.
