Allow access to referring physicians

Hi All,

In planning a new medical office, we are considering OpenEMR.  However, we need to be able to provide our referring physicians access to the system to see their patient reports only.  The reports will simply be TIFF or PDF images produced by another clinical program.  Does OpenEMR provide such capability?  If not, are there any suggestions on the best way to provide such.

Thx,

Eric

No, OpenEMR doesn’t do that.  Perhaps sending them as encrypted email would be a reasonable solution.

Thanks Rod,

I went down the road before with the email option and it’s find for a small referral base, but it quickly becomes chaotic with a large referral base because referring physician offices are extremely unorganized and seem to misplace everything and we constantly have to resend reports.  Our goal is to centralize the records so that the referring physicians always know where to find their reports.

Thx,

Eric

Maybe someday OEMR could do encrypted Emails.  I took a look around and found this to use with sendmail.

Not without some customization. But with a bit of customization, and the creation of a new user group, you could fairly easily do it.

Yes, that’s actually what we are planning on doing.  Over the next couple weeks, I will be obtaining a couple estimates.  If you’re interested in quoting this, please send me a private message.  Thx
