Hi,
I have been playing with ACL (phpgacl).
The Front Office has to enter copay at the front desk. Since copay is buried in encounters, is it possible to give access to frontoffice to enter copay without giving access to encounters. I am not successful in doing that. I am not yet familiar with ACL and I am learning fast. Eventually, I would like to give access to immunizations, lab results and their own apppointments to patients, preventing access to everything else. Is it possible ?
Now, changing the subject, I just bought a Nokia 770 pretty cheap and openemr works great on 770 and the doc can carry this in his pocket to the examining room. The doctor is not using it ,yet. Coming soon…
Thanks,

A better interface to payments at the front desk is on my list of things to do.
Regarding the other stuff, what you are talking about is a patient portal. That will need a whole different kind of user interface from what we have now. It would be a fun project. Let me know if you’d like to pursue it.
Re the Nokia, that’s an 800x480 display, right? Do you not find that a bit limiting?

I am totally ignorant of phpgacl.
My quick and dirty thinking tells me- "Create a small pop up window for copay entry when the front desk turns on the arrived-flag when the encounter is created. Probably, print a receipt too from there."

I’ll come to this later when I have time. Sometime back I was thinking about a patient portal off the openemr database with ads for baby books, pampers, toys etc while providing access to other patient related infos.

Yes, it is 800x480. I don’t find it limiting. The letters are small but readable. There’s a toggle switch for magnification. I ran into one problem. That may be opera browser related. When you set the date on the EOB screen and click to posting the invoice, the date doesn’t seem to be carried over to the next screen.
It’s still on sale at BestBuy for 138.00 $.
